The children are practicing mathematical vocabulary on the way to class. This will support their written and verbal reasoning.
Key Maths Vocabulary your child will use at school:
Addend: a number which is added to another
Sum: the total amount resulting from the addition of two or more numbers
Subtrahend: a quantity or number to be subtracted from another
Minuend: a quantity or number from which another is to be subtracted
Difference: a quantity by which amounts differ; the remainder left after subtraction of one value from another
Divisor: a number by which another number is to be divided
Dividend: a number to be divided by another number (divisor)
Quotient: a result obtained by dividing one quantity by another
Multiplicand: a quantity which is to be multiplied by another (the multiplier)
Multiplier: a quantity by which a given number (the multiplicand) is to be multiplied
Factor: a number or quantity that when multiplied with another produces a given number (product)
Product: a quantity obtained by multiplying quantities together
