Mathematics Support during the school closure
To access these lessons you need to go to the whiterosemaths.com website and click on home learning:
Whiterosemaths.com have and will continue to publish lessons and activities for children to complete online, whilst school is closed. These lessons are taught alongside the medium term planning that we use in school, therefore the lessons that have been published are new to the children. Each lesson also has an activity for the children to complete. I know that sometimes Maths can be tricky to explain, but with the support of the online videos and animations supplied in each lesson, mathematical concepts can be unpicked, with models and images, to gain a deeper understanding of the topic.
Select the year group your child(ren) is/are in, if these prove too difficult I would recommend moving down a year group. If your child is grasping the concept quickly, I would not recommend moving up a year group. If this is the case your child needs to gain a deeper knowledge of the concept being taught. To supplement this you could access iseemaths.com for more daily puzzles and problem solving tasks.
The lessons are all recorded with animations and narration to support your child through the concept being taught. At specific points in the video your child will be prompted to pause the recording and complete certain questions on their activity.
I look forward to hearing how you and your child are getting on with these lessons. If you would like any further advise on using this website during the closure please email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
